Kolkata, June 25 (HS). Bike-borne assailants opened indiscriminate fire in front of the Trinamool office in Kharagpur Town police station area of West Medinipur. A Trinamool member has been shot. Before anyone could understand anything, the assailants fled with the bike. This incident created panic in the area on Tuesday afternoon.
According to Trinamool sources, the injured worker's name is B. Santosh. On Tuesday, a meeting was being held at the Trinamool office located in New Settlement area of Ward No. 15 under Town Police Station in Kharagpur, West Medinipur district. Some people were sitting in front of that office. Then a motorcycle stopped near the party office. On seeing them, some people threw chairs from the office. By then the bike-borne attackers started firing indiscriminately. One bullet hit Santosh.
The activists said that the three attackers could not be identified as their faces were covered. They fired and fled from the spot. Meanwhile, the injured Trinamool worker was rushed to the hospital. According to sources, a bullet hit him on the left side below his waist.
Santosh was first taken to Kharagpur District Hospital. But, after his health condition deteriorated, Santosh was shifted to Medinipur Medical College Hospital. Police have started investigating the incident. Hindustan News / Om Prakash / Ganga
