The National Defence University (RRU) in Gandhinagar celebrated International Olympic Day and Indian Olympic Association President and veteran sprinter PT Usha and Senior Vice President Ajay Patel were present on the occasion at the event held at the Lawad-Dehgam campus.
PT Usha said that this is a great initiative. When athletes and others visit this research center, they will also get inspiration to join the Olympic mission. The center will act as a repository of sports knowledge which will include Olympic data, coaching techniques, sports science and player development.
BCORE has high-tech equipment and a historical library and also has a laboratory for further research in sports science. BCORE's mission is to develop athletic talent through research, education and training. The centre is all set to further strengthen India's position in Olympic sports at the domestic and global level.
Ajay Patel said that the initiatives taken by BICOR will definitely help a lot in removing the weaknesses of our coaches and players and strengthening their positives. BICOR will play a major role in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's dream of hosting the 2036 Olympics in India. India will leave no stone unturned to get the right to host the Olympics. This research center is the largest and number 1 in South Asia with state-of-the-art equipment.
