– NEET-UG re-examination at seven centers in the country
– Results of 67 students were withheld due to fear of tampering, grace mark system will be abolished: Dharmendra Pradhan
Out of 1563 students who got grace marks, 813 appeared in the exam
New Delhi: A re-examination was conducted on Sunday for 1563 students who got grace marks in NEET-UG 2024, but only 52 per cent of them, i.e. 813, appeared for the re-examination, while some students did not appear for the exam despite this. A special center was set up for them.
A senior official of the National Testing Agency (NTA) said that after the examination started on May 5, grace marks were given to 1,563 students due to loss of time at six centers. But after a controversy arose over this, the grace marks were canceled after the order of the Supreme Court and the examination was conducted again for them on Sunday. However, students did not appear for the examination at some centers. 185 students were to appear at an examination center in Balod, Chhattisgarh, but 70 students were absent. At the same time, an examination center was made for only two students in Chandigarh, but both the students did not reach the examination center.
Meanwhile, amid the NEET-UG paper leak controversy, the NTA has withheld the results of 67 students across the country. Quoting Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, sources said that a total of 70 examination centres were set up in Patna, in which 17 students were found cheating in the exam and their results have been withheld.
According to sources, Dharmendra Pradhan said that the demands of the students have been accepted. He demanded action against NTA.
NTA DG Subodh Singh has been transferred. The government heard the complaints of students regarding the irregularities in the NTA system and we have fixed it. There was no provision for the grace mark system, but NTA gave grace marks. This is the main reason for the irregularities. The grace mark system will be abolished.
