You can buy first and pay later, or have someone buy something on EMI. Credit cards are still used.
There are 16 numbers on the front of the credit card. It contains the CVV code and the expiry date. Any payment is made only after entering all this information. But have you ever wondered why there are only 16 numbers on the credit card? So let me tell you.
The first company number on a credit card indicates the company that has issued the credit card, i.e. the key industry identifier. For example, if the first number of a credit card is 4 then it is issued by VISA. If the same number is 5 then the card is issued by MasterCard and if the number is 6 then it is issued by RuPay.
The first 6 numbers on a credit card indicate which financial institution or bank issued it. It is also called the Issuer Identification Number (IIN) and Bank Identification Number (BIN).
So numbers 7 to 15 tell what your credit card account number is. This account is with the bank and financial institution that issued you the credit card.
The 16th and last number of the credit card is called the check digit. It validates the entire credit card number. This digit ensures that no one can make a fake credit card.
