Golaghat (Assam), June 23 (HS). Five people including a woman were arrested today with a huge quantity of heroin.
On Sunday, the Dhansiri police managed to seize a huge quantity of narcotics from a woman of Number 3 Dayalpur village under Uriamghat police station area on the Assam-Nagaland border in Dhansiri sub-division. The value of the seized heroin is said to be more than Rs 10 lakh.
Police said that based on a tip-off, a police team led by the Dhansiri Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) conducted a raid in the village today. Police seized 24 soap boxes containing 269.94 grams of suspected heroin from the house of Rahima Khatun (44) in the village.
At the end of the preliminary interrogation, Rahima Khatun was taken into custody by the police along with her brother-in-law Shah Ali (28). Three other people were also arrested in connection with the incident. Police registered a case at the Uriyamghat police station and started investigating the matter.
