Dhamtari, June 22 (HS). Central Nodal Officer of Jal Shakti Abhiyan Priyanka Chandra visited Mandraud, Nari, Senhabhatha, Megha of Magarlod, Ravanbhatha, Bodalbahara of Nagari of Kurud development block of the district. During this, she appreciated the clothes being made by the weavers in Nari. She observed the Amrit Sarovar built at a cost of Rs 19 lakh in Ravanbhatha. Tree plantation work is being done on the river banks through water shed and MNREGA in Gram Panchayat Giraud. This village comes in the water shed area, which has 19 villages, four stop dams and the villagers experienced the programs conducted in Jal Jagar Utsav.
He visited village Mandraud. Mixed plantation has been done in 12 hectare area here, in which about 2500 fruit and shade trees including guava and mango are planted and this is river bank plantation work. This work has been done with 12 lakh 80 thousand rupees from MNREGA and MLA fund. In this plantation work done last year, all the plants are safe, solar energy pump has been installed and fencing has also been done. In future, there is a plan to involve women of self-help group in this work.
During the inspection of Amrit Sarovar in Senhabhatha, Priyanka Chandra was told that the Gram Panchayat itself has spent two lakh rupees in the construction of this Amrit Sarovar. It has been beautified with seating arrangements, lights, paver blocks. The director also observed the rain water harvesting system built on the roadside in Megha. During this, it was told that water from half the village comes in this system. Due to its construction, the ground water level in the village and surrounding areas has increased. Earlier, all the water of the village used to flow through drains. Now water is being conserved through the rain water harvesting system. By participating in the Jal Jagar Utsav organized in Megha itself, the director saw the work being done to save water. Collector Namrata Gandhi, CEO District Panchayat Roma Srivastava and other officials were present on this occasion.

During this, women of Green Army, Sarpanch and villagers shared the awareness campaigns and programs being conducted towards water conservation. Information was given about the construction of four ponds, two Amrit Sarovar, 12 soakpits, roof water harvesting in Gram Panchayat Bhawan and school for water conservation. During the inspection of Bodalbahra, along with the survey of houses built for special tribe Kamar, soakpits, wells through Jaldoot, the village plan made under Pradhan Mantri Janman Yojana was observed. During this, the construction of wire dam made at a cost of Rs 12 lakh was observed. It has been told that this will irrigate about 53 acres of land, which will benefit the farmers.
