4 students of Bandra's Rizvi College drowned in Khalapur river

Mumbai: Four students from Mumbai, who had come to Khalapur for a monsoon picnic on Friday, drowned while bathing in the river. All four students were students of Rizvi College, Bandra.

The incident took place at around 3 pm on Friday at the Satya Sai Baba Dam pass in Pokharwadi of Wavarle village of Khalpura in Raigad. Where 37 students of Rizvi College had come to Khalapur for a picnic during the monsoon. Among them, Eklavya Singh, Ishant Yadav, Akash Mane, Ranak Banda died due to drowning.

According to the information received, a group of students from Mumbai had come to Khalapur for a monsoon tour. There were 17 girls in this group of 37 people. All of them had gone to Sondai Fort for trekking. While returning from there, all these students started bathing under a shed built on the banks of the Dhandi river. But due to not knowing the depth of the water properly, Eklavya who entered it drowned. To save him, Ishant, Akash, Ranak also jumped into the river and they also drowned.

After this incident, some students contacted the police. As soon as the information was received, the police team and disaster management team from Khalapurni reached the spot and started a rescue operation. In which the local youth of Pokharwadi also helped in the search operation to find these four youths. After hours of rescue operation, the bodies of these four students were recovered. After this, all the bodies were sent for postmortem and the police investigated the matter further.
