Mandi, June 21 (HS). On the occasion of International Yoga Day and the birth anniversary of the great Saint Kabir, the Department of Language and Culture organized a multilingual kavi sammelan at Sanskriti Sadan Mandi. In which poets and litterateurs of the district participated and recited their compositions. The program was presided over by senior litterateur poet Murari Sharma. The program started with the worship of Goddess Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge, and lighting of the lamp. The District Language Officer welcomed all the guests and highlighted the importance and necessity of yoga in life on World Yoga Day. He said that Saint Kabir contributed to social reform and an appeal was made to follow his teachings. Presiding over the program, litterateur Murari Sharma said that Kabir is our ancestor poet, Kabir has been attacking the evils, discrepancies, hypocrisy and superstitions of the society through his poetry. He said that every poet who writes against social discrepancies, traditions and superstitions is in itself connected to the tradition of Kabir. But it is not so easy to be Kabir. He said that good writing can never go extinct. Kabir is an example of this, even though efforts were made to forget him. But after three hundred years, scholars like Hazari Prasad Dwivedi brought Kabir back to the mainstream. Kabir will remain relevant as long as there are discrepancies, hypocrisy, superstitions and evils in society. Due to this, Kabir's relevance has not decreased in today's era.
