Raipur, June 21 (HS). State Congress President Deepak Baij said that in the BJP government, the general public is not getting electricity as per demand. The people of cities and villages are facing the problem of power cuts and low voltage. During the Congress government, there was 24-hour power supply. In summer, when the demand increased, power was purchased from other states and 24-hour power was supplied to the general public.

He said that even farmers who cultivated Rabi crops used to get free electricity to run borewells. During the Congress government, power of transformers was increased to ensure uninterrupted power supply, new transformers were installed. Transmissions were upgraded. In the BJP government, the power system has collapsed in just 6 months, the common people are taking to the streets and protesting against the problem of electricity.

Baij said that after the formation of the BJP government, power cuts have become a common occurrence, the general public is coming out on the streets demanding electricity. During the Congress government, the public never came out on the streets over the problem of electricity, during summers, electricity was supplied as per the demand. In just 6 months, power chaos is being seen. Congress will soon launch a mass movement in the state over power cuts.

Deepak Baij said that in the last 6 months, Chhattisgarh, which was a power surplus state, has become the centre of power cuts. There is not a single day when power is not cut for two-four hours. At night, the power situation becomes even more terrible, power is cut for hours. BJP is neither able to manage the government nor the arrangements. On one hand, the government is not able to provide electricity for the entire time, and on top of that, it is putting the burden of expensive electricity on the consumers. In many districts of the state, power is being cut throughout the night.
