National Book Fair begins in Shimla, Governor inaugurates it

Shimla, June 21 (HS). Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla inaugurated the eighth National Book Fair at the historic Ridge Ground in Shimla on Friday. The book fair is being organized under the joint aegis of Center for Art and Readership (OCARD India), Himalaya Literature, Culture and Environment Forum and Municipal Corporation Shimla. This fair will be organized till June 30.

On this occasion, the Governor appreciated the special contribution of Himalaya Sahitya Sanskriti and Paryavaran Manch as the local coordinator of the fair. He also appreciated the efforts of the Manch for the last eight years to promote book culture in Shimla.

The Governor said that there can be no better friend than books, so he too has come to meet his friends in this book fair. He said that in today's digital environment where the reading ability is decreasing day by day, the importance of such events increases even more. Through these events, books based on various subjects, streams and ideas have been made available under one roof, which will definitely benefit the readers. He expressed hope that in future also such events will be organized continuously not only in Shimla but also in other districts of the state.

Earlier, Director Ocard India Rakesh Gupta and President Himalaya Literature Culture and Environment Forum SR Harnot welcomed the Governor.
