Bhopal, June 20 (HS). 16 universities of Madhya Pradesh have been declared defaulters. These include seven government and nine private universities. The University Grants Commission (UGC) has taken this action against these universities for not appointing a Lokpal.
UGC has released the list of universities declared as defaulters on 19 June. These include three government universities of Jabalpur and two each of Bhopal and Gwalior. The nine private universities declared as defaulters for not appointing a Lokpal include three universities of Indore and two of Bhopal. Apart from this, one private university each of Sehore, Dewas, Neemuch and Sagar have been declared as defaulters.
The government universities declared as defaster include 1. Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya, Bhopal, 2. Makhanlal Chaturvedi National Journalism and Mass Communication University, Bhopal, 3. Madhya Pradesh Medical University, Jabalpur, 4. Jawaharlal Nehru Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, Jabalpur, 5. Nanaji Deshmukh Veterinary Science University, Jabalpur, 6. Raja Man Singh Music and Art University, Gwalior, 7. Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, Gwalior.
Similarly, among private universities, 1. Aryavart University, Sehore, 2. LNCT Vidyapeeth University, Indore, 3. Madhyanchal Professional University, Bhopal, 4. Oriental University, Indore, 5. Shri Vaishnav Vidyapeeth University, Indore, 6. Swami Vivekanand University, Sagar, 7. Gyanodya University, Neemuch, 8. JNCT Professional University, Bhopal, 9. Amaltas University, Dewas have been declared defaulters.
Former Vice Chancellor of Barkatullah University Bhopal and educationist Dr. B. Bharti said that there is not a single traditional university among the universities declared defaulter by UGC. The ones declared defaulter are specific state universities. Due to this, common courses (courses like BA, BCom, BSc, MA, MSc, MCom) are not conducted in these universities.
Former judge Omprakash Sunarya appointed ombudsman of Makhanlal Chaturvedi University
After being declared a defaulter, Makhanlal Chaturvedi University appointed a Lokpal on Thursday. Retired Principal District and Sessions Judge Om Prakash Sunarya has been appointed Lokpal at Makhanlal Chaturvedi National Journalism and Communication University. Sunarya has been appointed to the post of Lokpal as per the recommendation of the committee constituted in the university on the basis of applications received on the basis of advertisement issued in compliance with the guidelines provided by UGC. His appointment is for a period of three years from the date of assuming charge. Sunarya will be the first Lokpal of the university.
