politics of Maharashtra : After the results of the Lok Sabha elections 2024, the difficulties of the BJP have increased because it did not get a majority and it came to power with the help of NDA allies, but now its difficulties seem to be increasing due to the constant demands of these allies.
Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena wants to do this
In the latest case, rhetoric has started regarding the seat sharing in the Mahayuti alliance before the assembly elections in Maharashtra. A senior leader of Shiv Sena, led by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, has said that his party should get a chance to contest at least 100 seats out of the 288 assembly seats in Maharashtra.
Who is included in NDA in Maharashtra?
Notably, the Shiv Sena is part of the Mahayuti alliance, which also includes the BJP and the Ajit Pawar-led NCP. The state is scheduled to hold assembly elections in October. “We should get 100 seats to contest and we will ensure that we win 90 of them,” former state minister Ramdas Kadam said at an event organised by Shinde on Wednesday to mark the 58th foundation day of the undivided Shiv Sena.
80-90 seats were also demanded from NCP
Maharashtra minister and NCP leader Chhagan Bhujbal had also recently said that his party should get 80-90 seats to contest the state assembly elections. In the Lok Sabha elections, the Mahayuti alliance got just 17 seats in the state and it was the worst performance of the NDA.
Fadnavis replied…
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis later said that BJP is the largest party and will contest the maximum number of seats in the state elections. However, it is also certain that the seat sharing formula will be decided only after a meeting and discussion between the leaders of the three parties. In the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections, the ruling Mahayuti won 17 out of 48 seats in the state. In which BJP won 9 seats, Shiv Sena won 7 seats and NCP won 1 seat.
