Mumbai: Gold and silver prices continued to fall in the Mumbai jewellery market today. As the world markets fell further, there were more sellers and fewer buyers in the domestic market. In the Ahmedabad market today, gold fell by Rs 400 per 10 grams to Rs 99.50 and silver by Rs 73,800 per 10 grams to Rs 99.90.
Ahmedabad Silver prices fell by Rs 300 to Rs 89700 per kg. Gold prices in the world market were at a low of 2333 to 2306 to 2315 to 2316 dollars per ounce.
There was a discussion that due to the increase in the dollar index in the world market, the selling of funds in global gold has increased. However, US retail sales data remained weak today.
Meanwhile, silver prices also fell following gold in the global market by 29.56 to 28.92 to 28.97 to 28.98 dollars per ounce. Global copper prices fell further by 1.12 per cent today. Global palladium prices were at $876-877 per ounce from a low of $895 to $872. However, global platinum prices rose today. Platinum prices were at $967 to 968 from a high of 952 to 980.
However, crude oil prices continued to rise in the world market. Brent crude prices rose from $82.85 to $84.14 per barrel, while US crude prices rose from $78.71 to $80.61 per barrel to $80.20. Sentiment remained slightly soft at the top level amid signs of rising crude oil exports from Russia.
Meanwhile, in the Mumbai bullion market today, the price of gold stood at Rs 71,375 at Rs 99.50 and Rs 71,285 at Rs 99.90, while the price of silver in Mumbai stood at Rs 87,800 and Rs 88,027 without GST was Rs 87553. In the Mumbai currency market today, the price of dollar fell against the rupee and its effect was also seen on the price of gold and silver in the jewelry market.
