Kanpur, June 18 (HS). Hanumant Vihar police station on Tuesday revealed the incident of murder of the driver and robbery of the cab. Police has arrested two accused, including a juvenile. One accused is still absconding and search is on for him.
Revealing the incident, ADCP Ankita Sharma said that on June 13, Narayan Singh had lodged a missing report of his brother-in-law Pushpendra Singh in Hanumant Vihar police station. He had told that his brother-in-law had attached his car to some company and drives a cab. On the same day, a dead body was found near an underpass in Panki police station area and the family members identified the body as Pushpendra. After this, a case of murder was registered instead of missing and a police team was deployed to solve the case. Through surveillance and CCTV footage, the police team arrested two murder accused including a juvenile. While the third accused Vishal Pal is still absconding. The arrested accused Nikhil Bhadauria is a resident of Kalyanpur police station, Kanpur.
During interrogation, it was found that accused Vishal Pal booked a cab from Ghantaghar to Maksudabad on the night of 12th and 13th. As Maksudabad is a rural area, cab driver Pushpendra Singh cancelled the ride. On this, he lured the driver with more money and left for Maksudabad without booking. On reaching Maksudabad, he murdered driver Pushpendra by slitting his throat at a deserted place and looted the car. After this, the body of the driver was thrown from his car in Panki police station area. The accused had planned that when the ride gets cancelled, we will not be caught and we will also get money by selling the car. The accused have been produced in the court and taken on remand and soon the third accused will be arrested.
