Ranchi, June 17 (HS). State Congress President Rajesh Thakur expressed condolences and paid his emotional tribute to the passengers who died in the Kanchenjunga Express train accident in Darjeeling, West Bengal. He prayed to God to give strength to the bereaved families to bear this immense sorrow.
He said that the central government should provide proper compensation and high level medical facilities to the families of the deceased and the injured at the government level. He said that Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav should take moral responsibility for this rail accident, during his tenure hundreds of people have died in many rail accidents in the country, due to which thousands of families were ruined but no improvement was seen in the functioning of the Railway Ministry. He said that qualitative improvement in the safety standards of railways is necessary but compared to other countries, there has been almost no increase in safety measures in the last decade, rather the uncontrollable increase in the number of accidents has created a worrying situation.
