Lok Sabha Speaker Election: The first session of Parliament will begin on June 24 after the BJP-led NDA government takes oath for the third consecutive time. This session will last for eight days. On the third day of this session, on June 26, the election for the post of Lok Sabha Speaker will be held. Before this election, the opposition has repeatedly stressed that the post of Lok Sabha Speaker should be held by NDA allies.
On this issue, Nitish Kumar's Janata Dal (United) has made it clear that whatever decision BJP takes, the party will support it. On the other hand, Chandrababu Naidu's TDP has said that the candidate should be selected with the consent of all the parties in the alliance.
JDU announced support
Janata Dal (United) leader KC Tyagi on Saturday said that JDU and TDP are allies in the NDA and they will support the candidate nominated by the Bharatiya Janata Party. KC Tyagi said, JDU (Janata Dal United) and TDP (Telugu Desam Party) are strongly in the NDA. We will support the person nominated by the BJP (for Speaker).

TDP national spokesperson Pattabhi Ram Komareddy said that only the unanimous candidate will get the post of Speaker. He said that NDA will hold a meeting with its allies on this issue and decide who will be our candidate for the Speaker. The candidate will be fielded only after everyone's consensus and all the allies including TDP will support the candidate.
Congress had achieved its objective
Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot attacked the BJP and said that not only TDP and JDU but the people of the entire country are waiting for the Lok Sabha Speaker election. If the BJP does not intend to go ahead and do any undemocratic act, then it should give the Speaker's post to an ally. Following the coalition dharma, he was the president of TDP and Shiv Sena in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government from 1998 to 2004 and the president of CPI (M) in the UPA government from 2004 to 2009 and managed the Lok Sabha well.
He further said that TDP and JDU should not forget BJP's conspiracy to topple the government in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Goa, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh and Rajasthan. In many of these states, the government fell and the parties broke up due to the role of the Speaker. In 2019, 4 out of 6 Rajya Sabha MPs of TDP joined BJP and TDP could not do anything then. Now if BJP keeps the post of Lok Sabha Speaker with itself, then TDP and JDU should be ready to see horse-trading of their MPs.
