NCERT changed the chapter on Ayodhya: The name of Babri Masjid has also been removed from the new book of social science for class 12 prepared by NCERT. Now in the new book, it has been called 'three domed structure'. The chapter on Ayodhya has been reduced from four pages to just two pages. It includes BJP's Rath Yatra from Somnath to Ayodhya, the role of kar sevaks, violence that erupted after the demolition of Babri Masjid, President's rule and BJP's regret over the violence in Ayodhya.
What was in the old textbook?
According to reports, an old textbook states that the Babri Masjid was built in the 16th century by Mir Baqi, the commander of Mughal emperor Babur. Now this chapter states that a three-domed structure was built at the birthplace of Shri Ram in 1528. However, the structure had many Hindu symbols. Apart from this, there were also idols on the inner and outer walls. Two pages of the old book describe how a crowd gathered at the mosque after the Faizabad District Court's decision to open it in 1986. In 1992, the Rath Yatra and Kar Sevaks taken out for the construction of Ram temple led to communal tension. Then in 1993, communal riots took place. This time it is said that the BJP has expressed grief over the incident in Ayodhya.
What's in the new book?
The new book states that in 1986, the Faizabad district court ordered the opening of the three-domed structure and people were allowed to worship. This three-domed structure is believed to have been built on the birthplace of Lord Ram. The foundation stone of the Ram temple was laid but further construction was stopped. The Hindu community felt that its faith was being compromised and the Muslim community was getting the right to maintain control over the Constitution. After the structure collapsed in 1992, many critics said that this would prove to be a major challenge to the principles of democracy.
Supreme Court decision incorporated
The Supreme Court's decision on the Ayodhya dispute has been included in a new book. It was said that on November 9, 2019, the Constitution Bench of the Supreme Court had ruled that the land belongs to the temple. The old book included pictures of some newspaper cuttings which also included the order to remove the Kalyan Singh government after the demolition of the Babri Masjid. Now it has been removed. Let us tell you that the NCERT book has been updated for the fourth time since 2014.
