Union Home Minister Amit Shah will chair a high-level meeting on Sunday to review the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir and preparations for the Amarnath Yatra. Earlier, Amit Shah reviewed the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir in a high-level meeting with senior officials of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) in the national capital on Friday. Instructions have been given to call another detailed meeting on this issue on June 16.
Shah held this meeting in the wake of recent terrorist attacks in Jammu and Kashmir, which has raised concerns about the security situation in the region. In the meeting, the Home Minister directed to convene a follow-up meeting in North Block on June 16 to further review the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir and preparations for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra. The concerned officials briefed the Home Minister about the current security situation in Jammu and Kashmir and preparations to deal with such terrorist attacks. According to Home Ministry officials, the meeting to be held on June 16 will be attended by the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, National Security Advisor, Union Home Secretary and senior officials of the Army, Police, Jammu and Kashmir Administration and Home Ministry. The purpose of this tight monitoring is to ensure the safety of the residents of Jammu and Kashmir as well as the pilgrims of Amarnath Yatra and maintain law and order in the state.
