Ranchi, June 15 (HS). The police of Lower Bazaar police station has arrested a shopkeeper along with two notorious criminals of the snatching gang. The arrested accused include shopkeepers Ashwani Prakash Gupta, Mohammad Umar and Mohammad Prince who bought stolen jewellery. 16.40 grams of melted gold, a stone for checking gold, 11 thousand cash, clothes and a bike have been recovered from them.
SSP Chandan Kumar Sinha told in a press conference on Saturday that on June 5, Geeta Singh, wife of Manoj Kumar Singh, a resident of Ratu Road, was going behind the Centenvita Hospital. During this time, two criminals on a bike snatched the gold chain from her neck and fled. During the investigation, the criminals were identified on the basis of CCTV footage.
During the investigation, it came to light that the bike used by the criminals to commit the crime was stolen from Pathalkudwa. Two people were arrested on the basis of CCTV footage. On the basis of interrogation of both, melted gold was recovered from the shop of Ashwini Prakash Gupta located at Firayalal Chowk, who had bought the gold chain. The shopkeeper also admitted to buying the chain in his confession. The SSP said that several cases have already been registered against the arrested criminals Mohammad Umar and Mohammad Prince.
