New Delhi, June 15 (HS). 20 students have filed a petition in the Supreme Court regarding the anomalies of NEET 2024, demanding an investigation into the irregularities in this examination held on May 05 by the CBI or any other independent agency under the supervision of the Supreme Court.
In the petition filed by Tanmay Sharma and others, it has been demanded that an academic and forensic investigation of the students who scored more than 620 marks in this examination should be conducted by an independent agency or a committee formed by the Supreme Court. The petition has demanded that the NEET examination be conducted again and the Central Government and the agencies conducting this examination should be directed to take appropriate steps to maintain transparency during the examination, to prevent paper leakage and to prevent the use of unfair means during the examination in future.
The petition cites seven points based on the investigation of the exam results. First, 67 students scored 100 percent marks in this exam, out of which six are from the same exam center. While 8 out of the top 70 students are from an exam center in Jhajjar, Haryana. Also, the roll numbers of the top hundred children are in the same order.
Secondly, the number of students securing 620 to 720 marks has increased by 400 percent as compared to earlier, which was only 0.4 to 0.6 percent last year. At the same time, the percentage of top 100 students last time was only 2.5. Whereas there is no significant difference in the percentage of students in the category of 520 to 620 and below. This shows that this was done in a planned manner to get admission to special children.
Third, 1563 students were given grace marks in the exam results by NTA without any rules. NTA is guilty of giving grace marks after the exam was over without changing any rules, which should be investigated.
Fourthly, it is mathematically impossible for students to score 718-719 marks out of a total of 720 because the exam has a provision of deducting four marks for each correct answer and one mark for each wrong answer. In such a situation, 718 or 719 marks cannot be obtained in any case by answering 180 questions.
Fifth, the NEET exam papers were leaked because the NTA admitted that the papers were circulated only at 4:25 pm on the exam day, while the exam ended at 5:20 pm.
Sixth, compensatory marks were given citing less time given to give the exam and seventh, there is lack of transparency in the exam process because carbon copy of OMR sheet was not given to the students. Due to which the possibility of rigging cannot be ruled out. At the same time, many FIRs were registered in this entire case and many accused were arrested from different parts of the country. In such a situation, the exam can be cancelled on the basis of these points.
