Discussion with security and intelligence agencies
A meeting was held between senior officials of security and intelligence agencies in the Union Home Ministry. During this meeting, the current situation in Jammu was discussed. Apart from this, security review was done keeping in mind the Amarnath Yatra. It was clearly stated in the meeting that infiltration in India is increasing through the International Border (IB) connected to Jammu in recent times. It was also feared that in view of the possible Amarnath Yatra, Pakistani intelligence agency can hatch a big conspiracy, because more than 500 companies will be deployed for the Amarnath Yatra, this big decision was taken in the meeting of security and defense agency.
There is no mercy for those who support terrorists
Sources said that it was decided in the meeting that now in Jammu, like in Kashmir, strict action will be taken against the supporters of terrorists and Over Ground Workers (OGW). From confiscating their property to filing cases against them for serious criminal charges, cases will also be registered. A list of such people who are supporters of terrorists will be made and it is also being considered to not give government jobs to their family members. Apart from security and intelligence agencies, officials from many important departments including Kashmir Division of Home Ministry and Military Intelligence Branch participated in the meeting.
Amarnath Yatra reviewed
Sources related to the Home Ministry say that during this meeting, the possible threat to the Amarnath Yatra was also reviewed. More than 500 companies of paramilitary forces will be deployed for security during the Yatra. This will include all paramilitary security forces including CRPF, BSF, ITBP, CISF. It was said in the meeting that the companies present in Punjab should now be sent back to Jammu. These companies were deployed during the elections in Punjab.
What was discussed about Amarnath Yatra in the meeting?
The meeting stressed the need to set up a joint control room to enhance coordination among all agencies for the Amarnath Yatra, Mata Khirbhawani Mela, Budha Amarnath Yatra and Shri Machail Yatra. The annual pilgrimage to the 3,880-metre-high Amarnath cave in the south Kashmir Himalayas will begin on June 29 and end on August 19. The Khirbhawani Mela began on June 14, after which the Machail Yatra will begin on July 18. Strong security measures and adequate facilities for the pilgrims at the Yatri Niwas and other accommodation centres in Bhagwati Nagar, Bechak were discussed.
Pilgrims will not face any problem
Transport plans were also reviewed so that pilgrims can travel without any difficulty. Deployment of security personnel has been finalised in five districts of Jammu province namely Jammu, Doda, Kishtwar, Rajouri, Poonch and Reasi to deal with any emergency. Quick Reaction Teams (QRTs) and Road Opening Parties (ROPs) will be deployed at reception centres, langar gahs and help booths with foolproof arrangements.
