Liquor Price Hike: The new liquor policy has come into effect in Haryana from Wednesday, due to which liquor and beer have become expensive in the state. You will have to pay 5 rupees more for a bottle of desi liquor and 20 rupees more for beer. Desi and foreign liquor have also become expensive. For both of these, you will have to pay 5 percent more than before. The government has also brought imported liquor under its purview. The liquor will be sold at a profit of 20 percent on the rate at which the contractor gets foreign liquor from wholesale. Earlier, operators running licensed bars in hotels had to buy liquor from 2 nearby liquor shops. This time the government has changed the policy and given another option to the hotel operators. Now they will be able to buy liquor from any of the 3 nearby shops. There is also a condition that all three liquor shops should be owned by different license holders.
There is no change in the fees of L-1 and L-13 licenses
In the new excise policy, the reserve price has been increased by 7 percent compared to last year, while the price of liquor has increased less. Earlier, the price used to be increased by 50 to 60 rupees per box. This time, the price has been increased by 20 to 25 rupees per box. There has been no change in the fee of L-1 (English wholesale) and L-13 (country liquor wholesale) licenses. Liquor shops in villages can be opened 50 meters away from the Firni, if the shop is opened after 12 o'clock, an annual fee of Rs 20 lakh will have to be paid.
The financial year has started today
Earlier, the financial year of the Excise and Taxation Department used to start from April 1 and end on March 31, but after Covid, its rules have changed. Now it runs from June 12 to June 11. For this reason, the new excise policy has been implemented in the state from June 12. If we look at the figures of the year 2022-23, the government had set a target of revenue collection from contracts of Rs 471 crore. The income was much more than that, Rs 558 crore. In the year 2023-24, sales of more than Rs 922 crore have been done, more than the target of Rs 760 crore. For the year 2024-25, the government has set a target of Rs 813 crore.
