A student who allowed his account to be used for sextortion was caught

Mumbai: Juhu police have arrested a student from Rajasthan who had given his bank account to a fraud gang that sexually exploited people by claiming to be from the CBI.

According to the FIR lodged by the complainant in this regard at Juhu Police Station, in the month of March, he had a conversation with a girl on a dating app. During this, the girl asked the complainant for his phone number. After some time, he received a video call on WhatsApp in which a woman was seen doing obscene acts. The complainant immediately disconnected the call.

Subsequently, the next day, the complainant received a video call from a number, which the complainant downloaded and was shocked as the video contained the complainant's own pornographic video. The fraudsters sent a morphed video of himself to the complainant. Thereafter, the complainant received a call from a number in which the person concerned said that he was speaking from the CBI, a case has been registered against him for his pornographic video and the police may come to arrest him anytime. Apart from this, the complainant was threatened that if he wanted the video not to be uploaded on YouTube and other social media sites, he would have to pay Rs 50,000.

The complainant got scared of all this and he sent Rs 50,000 as per the instructions of the person. However, after this incident, the complainant suspected that he has been cheated and lodged a complaint at Juhu Police Station and the police registered a case against unknown fraudsters and conducted further investigation. Meanwhile, the higher authorities ordered an immediate investigation into the matter and the officials conducted further investigation in which it was found that the fraudulent amount was deposited in the account of a person from Rajasthan.

Based on this information, a team of Juhu police reached Alwar in Rajasthan and laid a trap and arrested the account in which the fraudulent amount was deposited. It was found that this account belongs to a youth named Ashish Swami and it is currently being studied.
