Nifty rose 177 points intra-day to hit an all-time high of 23442 and closed 58 points higher at 23323

Mumbai: In global markets, the Indian stock markets continued to rise today on the back of improvement in European markets, the conclusion of the US Federal Reserve meeting and strength ahead of inflation data. After the Modi government came to power again at the Center, the focus is on the Union Budget and incentives, expectation of measures to accelerate economic growth. Nifty based market made history of new highs as buying in fund stocks continued. Today, the spot Nifty rose 177.10 points to a new all-time high of 23,441.95 in intraday due to heavy buying in frontline stocks and healthcare-pharmaceuticals, oil-gas stocks and profit booking in FMCG stocks and other big stocks. In stocks it closed with a gain of 58.10 points at 23322.95. While intra-day Sensex rose 593.94 points to 77050.53 and finally closed 149.98 points higher at 76606.57.

Capital Goods index rose Rs 828: Carborundum rose Rs 64, Thermax rose Rs 171, Siemens rose Rs 172.

BSE Capital Goods index jumped 828.33 points to close at 70639.29 as funds continued aggressive buying in capital goods stocks today. Suzlon rose Rs 2.03 to Rs 50.29, Carborundum Universal rose Rs 64.40 to Rs 1705, Thermax rose Rs 171.30 to Rs 5368.05, Praj Industries rose Rs 16.95 to Rs 634, Siemens rose Rs 30 to Rs 172.20 to Rs 7066.60, ABB rose Rs 180.25 to Rs 8280, Grindwell Norton rose Rs 49.50 to Rs 2681.65, Kalpataru Power rose Rs 23.15 to Rs 1258.30, Bharat Forge rose Rs 24.55 to Rs 1627.80.

Rise in PSU stocks continues: MMTC up by Rs 4, CONCOR by Rs 53, Engineers India by Rs 9

The BSE PSU index closed 246.10 points higher at 21085.49 as funds continued to buy shares of PSU companies. MMTC rose Rs 4.36 to Rs 77.74, Container Corporation rose Rs 53 to Rs 1140.95, Engineers India rose Rs 9.45 to Rs 255.95, NMDC rose Rs 8.10 to Rs 263, Power Grid Corp rose Rs 8.05 to Rs 324.60, Coal India rose Rs 12 to Rs 488.65, Hindustan Copper rose Rs 5.45 to Rs 335.35.

Healthcare index gains 271 points: Max Health gains Rs 68 to Rs 870: Morpan, Sigachi gain

The BSE Healthcare index closed 271.08 points higher at 36769.36 as funds made heavy purchases in healthcare-pharmaceuticals companies today. Max Healthcare rose Rs 68.10 to Rs 870.60, Morpen Lab rose Rs 3.20 to Rs 52.47, Krsnaa Diagnostic rose Rs 33.90 to Rs 633.05, Ami Organics rose Rs 64.75 to Rs 1327, Sigachi rose Rs 2.68 to Rs 65.70, Thyrocare rose Rs 22.85 to Rs 662.65, Healthcare Global rose Rs 9.45 to Rs 379.05, FDC rose Rs 8.80 to Rs 459, Torrent Pharma rose Rs 43.85 to Rs 43.85. .2894.45, Novartis India rose by Rs 11.20 to Rs 1084.40.

Investors attracted to fund, small, midcap stocks, market breadth positive: 2554 stocks closed positive

The market breadth remained positive today as funds continued to attract investors in small and mid cap stocks. Out of the total 3991 stocks traded on the BSE, the number of gainers was 2554 and the number of losers was 1336.

Investors' wealth in shares rose by Rs 2.38 lakh crore to a new record high of Rs 429.33 lakh crore.

Sensex, Nifty based stocks rallied with buying seen in many small, mid cap, A group stocks resulting in rise in price of many stocks, investors wealth i.e. total market capitalization of BSE listed companies increased by Rs 2.38 lakh crore. It hit a new high of Rs 429.33 lakh crore today.

FPIs/FIIs made net purchases of Rs 426 crore in stocks: DIIs made net purchases of Rs 234 crore

Foreign Portfolio Investors – FPIs, FIIs made net purchases of shares worth Rs 426.63 crore in cash today on Wednesday. There were sales of Rs 14,846.78 crore against total purchases of Rs 15,273.41 crore. While DIIs-Domestic Institutional Investors made net purchases of Rs 233.75 crore in cash today. There were sales of Rs 13,417.90 crore against total purchases of Rs 13,651.65 crore.
