In the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections, BJP missed the majority mark by winning 240 seats, but NDA crossed the majority mark with 293 seats. Congress won 99 seats while India Alliance won 234 seats. After the election, two victorious independent candidates also pledged their support to Congress.
