Mumbai: Global stock markets put the brakes on the rally at the end of the week after US stock markets witnessed record gains yesterday on encouraging results from IT giant chip maker Nvidia Corp. Despite a rise in US stock markets, Asian-Pacific markets today recorded a record rise in Indian stock markets against an overall narrow movement in other markets amid a holiday in Japan's Tokyo Stock Exchange. Nifty 50 spot index ended the selloff after hitting a new record high of 22297.50 in an unbroken historic rally. Nifty fell in the range of 22297.50 to 22186.10 and finally closed at 22212.70, down 4.75 points. While Sensex reached its historical high from 73427.59 to 73413.93, it finally closed at 73142.80 with a fall of 15.44 points.
Capital Goods Index jumped 661 points
BSE Capital Goods index closed 661.01 points higher at 56732.11 as funds again made aggressive buying in capital goods stocks today. Honeywell Automation rose by Rs 724.90 to Rs 38,250, Honeywell Automation rose by Rs 40.35 to Rs 3044.85, Rail Vikas rose by Rs 3.20 to Rs 264.75, Larsen & Toubro rose by Rs 25.75 to Rs 3389.80.
Attraction in financial stocks
Funds were the preferred buy in financial services stocks today. PTC India rose by Rs 2.19 to Rs 46.16, GIC Housing rose by Rs 11.35 to Rs 246.10, Chems rose by Rs 113.20 to Rs 3112.50, Care Ratings rose by Rs 39.70 to Rs 1189.05, Kalyani Invest rose by Rs 135.20 to Rs 4100.
Mixed trend seen in auto stocks
A mixed trend was seen in the shares of automobile companies today. Tube Investments fell by Rs 70.80 to Rs 3615.25, Sundaram fell by Rs 18.30 to Rs 1091.35, Maruti Suzuki fell by Rs 136.35 to Rs 11,539.15, Bajaj Auto fell by Rs 75.25 to Rs 8430.05. While Balkrishna Industries rose by Rs 53.80 to Rs 2333.55, Cummins India rose by Rs 37.45 to Rs 2803.50, Mahindra & Mahindra rose by Rs 21.60 to Rs 1930.20, Tata Motors rose by Rs 5.05 to Rs 05. ₹937.15, MRF rose by Rs 626.80 to Rs 1,50,720.80.

DII bought shares worth Rs 176.68 crore
Foreign portfolio investors – FPI, FII made net purchases of Rs 1276.09 crore in cash today Friday. There were sales of Rs 14,470.55 crore against total purchases of Rs 15,746.64 crore. Whereas DII-domestic institutional investors made net purchase of shares worth Rs 176.68 crore today. There was a sale of Rs 8379.60 crore against the total purchase of Rs 8556.28 crore.
