Narendra Modi took oath as Prime Minister for the third consecutive time in a ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Sunday (9 June) evening. A total of 71 ministers, including 30 cabinet ministers, took oath along with him. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Modi went to the PMO on Monday morning and assumed charge.
Along with this, all the ministers of Modi government were given the opportunity to assume charge. Immediately After this, they have been instructed to go to their offices and start working. Most of the Union Ministers will take charge of their ministries after the Namaaz on Tuesday. Along with this, all the ministers were also allocated their departments on Monday. In the third term of the Modi government, Rajnath Singh will take charge of the Home Ministry, Amit Shah of Nirmala Sitharaman of Finance and S. Jaishankar of Foreign Ministry. Nitin Gadkari will continue to take charge of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and former Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal have joined the Union Cabinet for the first time. They have been given the responsibility of the Ministry of Agriculture-Farmer Welfare, Rural Development and Housing and Urban Affairs respectively. Manohar Lal has also been given the Ministry of Energy, which indicates his bigger role at the Center.
