Ranchi, June 10 (HS). There will be a complete ban on sand lifting from all river sand ghats under Ranchi district from today till October 15. Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Magistrate Rahul Kumar Sinha has issued an order in this regard. This order has been issued in the light of the order passed by the National Green Tribunal, Eastern Zone Bench, Kolkata and the Sustainable Sand Mining Management Guidelines of the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, which is effective immediately.
The Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Magistrate has ordered all the members of the District Mining Task Force, Sub-Divisional Officer Sadar, Bundu and all the Zonal Officers of the district to ensure strict legal action as per rules against those found lifting sand from the river ghats. In this regard, the Deputy Commissioner has requested the Senior Superintendent of Police, Ranchi to give necessary instructions to all the Sub-Divisional Police Officers and Station Incharges at his level.
