New road line: The second part of the coastal road from Marine Drive to Haji Ali will be opened for traffic from Monday, but the movement of vehicles will start only from June 11. Traffic will be allowed from 7 am to 11 pm i.e. for 16 hours. An official said that 90 percent of the work on the coastal road has been completed. The distance of the coastal road between Marine Drive and Haji Ali is 6.25 km. Currently, it takes 20-25 minutes to cover this distance by road. After its opening, this distance can be covered in just 7 minutes. The length of the first part of the coastal road opened between Worli and Marine Drive on March 11 is more than 9.50 km. That is, this time about three km less long coastal road will be opened. The total length of the coastal road is 10.58 km, which will be completed after connecting Marine Drive to Bandra Worli Sea Link.
Recently, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde visited the Coastal Road. He had said that the second part will be opened for traffic from June 10. People were hoping that they would be able to travel easily from Marine Drive to Worli, but the second part will be opened for traffic only from Marine Drive to Haji Ali. The part from Haji Ali to Bindumadhav Thackeray Chowk Worli is expected to open from July 10.
CM gave instructions
A BMC official associated with the Coastal Road project said that Chief Minister Shinde has instructed that the portion where the work has been completed should be opened for traffic before the rains. On June 10, the second part of the Coastal Road will be opened after inspection in the presence of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, Minister Deepak Kesarkar, Mangal Prabhat Lodha, BMC Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani and other officials.
Interchange at Amarsons Park and Haji Ali
This will ease the journey from Marine Drive to Haji Ali. People will be able to use the interchanges at Amarsons Park and Haji Ali. Exiting or entering from these interchanges will ease movement in various parts. Mainly the traffic from Barrister Rajni Patel Chowk (Lotus Jetty) to Worli, Bandra and Vatsalabai Desai Chowk (Haji Ali) to Tardeo, Mahalaxmi, Peddar Road will ease.
Open for 5 days only
This part of the Coastal Road will be open five days a week from Monday to Friday. Due to pending work on the project, it will be closed for two days on Saturday and Sunday. The opening of the second part of the Coastal Road will make movement from Marine Drive to Bhulabhai Desai Marg, Barrister Rajni Patel Chowk (Lotus Jetty) and Vatsalabai Desai Chowk (Haji Ali Chowk) possible.
