Jagdalpur, June 9 (HS). Bastar Botanics Private Limited can set up a distillery plant to make liquor from Mahua in its startup. For this, a place has also been selected in Dhuragaon of Lohandiguda block. It is being told that a public hearing can be held soon for setting up its plant. The work of this company is not only to make liquor from Mahua, but in the coming time, it also has to develop a research and development center for Mahua and other herbs, rare plants and Mahua found in the forests here. So that an international market can be created based on the resources of Bastar.
It is noteworthy that Mahua is most popular in the Central Indian states of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. The alcohol content in it ranges from 17 to 22 percent. The Madhya Pradesh government has given it the status of heritage liquor in the state. Mahua is an important part of the tribal culture in the tribal dominated areas of Bastar division of Chhattisgarh, due to the availability of Mahua here, the tribal community is also allowed to make country liquor of Mahua in limited quantity for their use.
Confirming this on Sunday, Bastar Collector Vijay Dayaram said that a company has shown interest in making a distillery from Mahua. For this, a place has been selected in Dhuragaon, but the consent of the local people is necessary to set up the plant, its public hearing will be held on June 10. If the green signal is given, then the company can start the work of setting up the plant here.
