Gopeshwar, June 09 (HS). 12 tourists from West Bengal and Hyderabad liked Saptkund, the enchanting world of seven lakes in Nijamula valley of Chamoli, so much that they have made advance booking to come here every year.
Dinesh Bisht, manager of Himalaya trek agency Himalaya Journey, said that tourists from Bengal and Hyderabad had booked a trip to Saptkund. These tourists were taken from Ramni to Saptkund via the Saptkund trek route, where all the tourists were surprised and overwhelmed. The group of tourists will reach Auli from Ramni via Saptkund, Jhinjhi village.
Since the start of the Char Dham Yatra, a huge crowd of devotees has gathered in all the four Dhams of Uttarakhand. Huge crowds are being seen everywhere. Apart from the four Dhams in Uttarakhand, there are countless places in the lap of the Himalayas which are still away from the eyes of the country and the world. If such places are made known to the country and the world through proper publicity and promotion, then this will not only promote tourism but will also provide employment opportunities to the local youth. This will stop the youth who are forced to migrate in search of employment in their own mountains. One such treasure of seven lakes is in disarray in the Nijamula valley of the border district Chamoli, which is known as the holy Saptkund.
where is saptakund
This priceless gift of nature is located 24 kilometers from Jhinjhi village in Nijamula valley of Chamoli, which is full of natural treasures. Saptkund is a group of seven lakes or seven ponds. Here all these seven ponds are located at a distance of half a kilometer from each other. The presence of seven lakes in the Himalayas at an altitude of about five thousand meters is a matter of curiosity and wonder in itself, while Saptkund is a thrilling track for adventure tourism and mountain lovers.
These are the Saptakund
Manish Negi, manager of Devbhoomi Adventure and Trekker and a young man who organises Saptkund trekking, says that out of the seven lakes in Saptkund, the water in six lakes is extremely cold while the water in one lake is hot. Bathing in the hot water kund removes all the tiredness of the tourists. The seven kunds are known as Parvati kund, Ganesh kund, Shiv kund, Rishi Narad kund, Nandi kund, Bhairav kund, Shakti kund. Out of these seven kunds, the water in six kunds is so cold that it becomes difficult to take a dip in it, while the water in one kund is so hot that bathing in it removes the tiredness of the tourists. To reach Saptkund, one has to cross Asia's most difficult walking track. Saptkund trek is no less than a paradise for adventure trekking enthusiasts. But due to lack of proper promotion and propagation, this priceless gift of nature is still hidden from the eyes of the country and the world.
This is the recognition
Harry Negi, a youth from Jhinjhi, the base camp village of Saptkund, and photographer Dev Negi say that Saptkund is the abode of Lord Shiva. Every year, on the day of Nanda Ashtami, celebrated in the month of Bhadon, villagers from the local villages of Irani, Jhinjhi, Pana, Ramni, Durmi, Pagana and the Nijamula valley reach here and worship Lord Shiva and Bhagwati Nanda. While every six years, the Dasholi Doli of Mother Nanda Kurud reaches its climax at Saptkund on Nanda Saptami during Nanda's annual Lokjaat Yatra and returns to Ramni village after the completion of Lokjaat.
Nature lover and trekker Brihasraj Tadiyal, who has visited every corner of the Himalayas, says that the peace and tranquility that one gets by visiting Saptkund is not found anywhere else. An invisible divine power resides here which gives new energy to the body. These powers can be felt by coming here. The beauty of Saptkund will captivate your mind. Such beauty is not found anywhere else. This is the real heaven present in the Himalayas.
There are panoramic views of the Himalayas throughout the trek
The distance of Saptkund from Jhinjhi village and Irani village can be covered by walking for about 24 kilometers. Local residents Mohan Singh Negi and Chandu Negi say that you get to see the Himalayas in the Saptkund trek. During the trek, one gets the opportunity to get rid of fatigue in the shade of various types of trees including Banj, Burans, Deodar, Kail, Khoru, Bhoj, while the beauty of hundreds of types of flowers in the velvety bugyal of Simbe, located 10 kilometers from Jhinjhi village in the middle of Saptkund, thrills the tourists and also relieves fatigue. On seeing Simbe Bugyal, tourists forget the valley of flowers, while medicinal plants can also be seen during this time. While one can also get a glimpse and chirping of dozens of types of Himalayan animals and birds, which is extremely delightful. The natural beauty and waterfalls also thrill the entire track.
Vimal Malasi, manager of Chase Himalaya, says that as soon as tourists reach Saptkund, they get the opportunity to see the panoramic views of the snow-clad peaks of the Himalayas. From Saptkund, one can see the major ranges of the Himalayas including Nanda Ghunghuti, Trishul, Nanda Devi, Chaikhambha, Bandarpunchhu. After reaching here, one feels as if God himself has come and carved the beauty of this place. But despite all the qualities, Saptkund is still hidden from the eyes of the country and the world. The government and the tourism department should make a special action plan to bring Saptkund on the tourist map so that tourism will be promoted and local youth will also get employment opportunities.
