An FIR has been filed against Bengali actor and Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA Soham Chakraborty for allegedly slapping a restaurant owner in Kolkata. The incident took place after an argument between the restaurant staff and the actor over a parking issue. Chakraborty said he slapped the owner Anisur Alam because Alam had allegedly misbehaved with party general secretary Abhishek Banerjee during an argument.
Based on the complaint filed by the restaurant owner, the police have registered a case against the actor under sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 341 (IPC section), 356 (IPC section), 506 (IPC section) and 506 (IPC section) for committing an offence with common intention (IPC section 34).
Alam, owner of Kolkata Delight in Newtown area, said he had allowed Chakraborty to shoot above his restaurant without charging any fee. Alam alleged that the actor punched and kicked him when he objected to security staff parking his car in the parking area. He said this was causing inconvenience to customers.
Alam said, “I allowed them to shoot above my restaurant and I did not ask for any money for it. Their security staff parked their cars in the parking area. My staff asked them to remove them as other customers were not able to park their cars.”
Soham's security staff told me that he is an MLA and a close friend of Abhishek Banerjee. I said I don't care if he is a friend of Narendra Modi or Abhishek. Suddenly Soham came and punched and kicked me in my face. On the other hand, Soham Chakraborty alleged that the restaurant owner had made comments on his staff and Abhishek Banerjee. He admitted to slapping Alam. The actor said, 'I heard the clash and ran downstairs. I saw the owner misbehaving with my staff. He abused me and Abhishek Banerjee. I lost my temper and slapped him.
In the CCTV footage of the restaurant, Chakraborty is seen arguing with Alam. He is seen holding Alam's shirt collar. However, the slapping incident was not captured in the clip.
