Mumbai: The administration in Satara district on Saturday demolished illegal structures at a resort in Mahabaleshwar owned by the family of the 17-year-old boy involved in the Pune Porsche car crash, an official said.
District officials bulldozed an unauthorised construction at the MPG Club owned by the Agarwal family in Malakam Peth area of Mahabaleshwar.
On May 19, two IT professionals from Madhya Pradesh were killed when a drunk teenager rammed his Porsche car into a bike in Pune's Kalyaninagar area.
His mother, father and grandfather made great efforts to save the teenager. The teenager's blood sample was changed in the hospital. The driver was kidnapped and threatened to take the blame. Sassoon paid off the doctors at the hospital.
In this case, the teenager's mother, father, grandfather, two doctors, a hospital employee and other accused were arrested.
The administration's action comes days after Chief Minister Eknath Shinde ordered Satara Collector Jitendra Dudi to take action against the resort if it was found to be illegal.
Last week, the administration sealed the hotel. Social worker and RTI activist Abhay Havaldar has filed a complaint with the Satara Collector against the accused builder Vishal Agarwal regarding the ownership of Hotel MPG Club in Mahabaleshwar. He alleged in the complaint that Agarwal is using the property in the name of Parsi Gymkhana for commercial use in the name of MPG Club. He claimed that the property of Parsi Gymkhana was contractually leased to the trust for residential purposes. The names of the trustees of the Parsi Gymkhana Trust were removed in 2020. Now the name of the Agarwal family has come to the fore as trustees.
The resort is currently run for business by a company called Regenta. The resort has been in the news for various reasons since its inception. The place also has a spa and a bar.
In the last seven to eight years, many people have lodged various complaints with the Mahabaleshwar Municipal Corporation regarding the MPG Club. Earlier, Mahabaleshwar Municipality Administrator Yogesh Patil had said that this resort belongs to Agarwal. They will take all the complaints received by the municipality regarding this resort seriously. So finally today the hammer fell on the construction.
