Dead Husband's Funeral Party: Whenever someone close to us dies, it takes months and sometimes years to overcome that grief. The grief of losing one's own is so difficult that no one is able to accept it easily. It becomes very sad, especially when one has been in a very close relationship. When a spouse dies, it seems as if one's world has collapsed. But what a woman did after her husband's death was beyond the understanding of many.
Husband Braden dies of a stroke
After Katie Young's 39-year-old husband, Braden, died of a stroke on May 17, Katie decided to hold a funeral party instead of a regular funeral.
“I didn't want my three children, ages 8, 10 and 12, to be traumatized by their father's funeral,” said Katie Young, 40. “Instead, I wanted them to watch the event and remember their dad. I get sick every time I think about planning a traditional funeral for Braden. I couldn't imagine sitting in church and crying through the speeches. It was hurtful for my children and unbearable for me. I didn't want to remember Braden being hurt like that.”
A grand funeral party was organized
A video of the lavish funeral party hosted by Katie Young has gone viral. It had 500 guests, a sumptuous dinner and games for the kids. At this party, she gifted paintings made by her husband Bedan to people in goodie bags given as return gifts.
Braden had a large music record collection
Braden had a large music record collection that he loved to share with people, so we showed people his collection so they could take a piece of their memory home with them, Katie Young said. Young wanted to make sure Braden's going away was a party where he would choose to be happy instead of sad. Our house was his favorite place to be. The party felt like he was there, Young said.
