Supreme Court's big decision on Delhi water crisis, orders Himachal Pradesh to release 137 cusecs of water

A petition was filed in the Supreme Court to order additional water supply for one month to Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. While hearing the case on June 6, the court had said that there is no problem in giving water to Himachal. Therefore, they released 137 cusecs of water for Delhi from upstream.

Also, the Haryana government has been directed that when water is released from Hathinikund Barrage, Haryana should help in transporting water to Wazirabad so that the people of Delhi can get drinking water without any interruption. The court has also asked the Delhi government to stop wastage of water. The vacation bench of Justice PK Mishra and KV Vishwanathan has ordered to release water from June 7. The court told the Delhi government that there should be no wastage of water and there should be no politics either. The court has asked all the parties to submit a report on the matter by Monday, June 10.

In the Supreme Court, Justice Prashant Mishra said that the water is coming from Himachal, not Haryana? Justice Vishwanathan said that this is a matter of right of way. Himachal is giving 150 cusecs of water. Let Haryana pass it. If needed, we will also inform the Chief Secretary about this. We have to focus on such a serious issue.

Let us tell you that the Delhi government had filed a petition in the Supreme Court on May 31 on the water crisis. It demanded that Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh be directed to release additional water for a month. During the hearing on June 3, the court had said that all the states have agreed that they will not clash with each other over the problem of water shortage of the citizens of Delhi. Delhi's problem will be solved.
