Hitwave remains unchanged
Heat wave conditions may continue for the next five days in different parts of eastern parts of the country, Uttar Pradesh and northern Madhya Pradesh. Meanwhile, 36 people have lost their lives so far due to severe heat in Odisha.
On Wednesday, there was rain and snowfall in the high altitude areas of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. The national capital and some adjoining areas received light rain. However, after the scorching heat, there is a possibility of thunderstorms at some places in North-West India in the next two days. Heavy rains may also occur at some places.
There will be heat in these states
The Meteorological Department has warned of severe heat for the next 5 days. This includes most areas of Punjab, Haryana, Bihar, north-eastern Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand and Odisha. Heat wave is likely to continue in these areas till June 9. Heat wave may occur in various parts of Uttar Pradesh from June 6 to 9. Nights will also be hot and humid. According to the IMD, the maximum temperature in eastern India may increase by 2-3 degrees Celsius during the next two days.
36 people died due to heat wave in Odisha
Odisha is in the grip of severe heat. So far 36 people have died due to heat wave and other heat related diseases in the state. A government statement issued on Wednesday said that 151 people died due to heat related diseases. Of which 36 deaths were confirmed due to heat wave, but 31 deaths were not found to be due to heat wave. Reports of 84 cases are yet to come.
