Compared to the last two general elections, the number of violations of the Model Code of Conduct has reduced this time: CEO

Ranchi, June 5 (HS). Chief Election Commissioner K. Ravi Kumar said that the election process has been completed. As soon as the Central Election Commission's instruction is received, the Model Code of Conduct will be declared ineffective in Jharkhand. He was talking to journalists after the completion of the election process at Nirvachan Sadan, Dhurva on Wednesday.

Ravi Kumar said that compared to the last two Lok Sabha elections, this time the least number of cases of Model Code of Conduct violations have been registered. In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, 318 cases of Model Code of Conduct violations were registered while in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections this number was 193. This time in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, this number has been only 101. He said that all this has been possible due to awareness campaigns and the positive role of the media.

Security arrangements were tight, Naxalite incidents remained zero

Ravi Kumar expressed satisfaction over the fair, fear-free and peaceful conduct of the elections. He also thanked all the officials, workers, policemen, security forces from outside, voters, all political parties, candidates and media persons involved in the election work who participated in making it a success.

Ravi Kumar said that the media has played a very important role in taking the Election Commission's message to every household. He said that the Assembly-wise voting data has been made public under Form 20. He also said that no violent incident took place in the state during the entire election. The most satisfying thing was that the Naxalite incident was also zero in this election.
