Hyderabad, 23 February (HS). Victory for Kabaddi and a better future for the youth. This is our wish, Puneri Paltan head coach BC Ramesh said in the Panga Roundtable program of Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) 10.
Apart from Ramesh, the coaches of the teams that qualified for the Season 10 playoffs shared their views at the Panga Roundtable event.
The six coaches who qualified include Puneri Paltan head coach BC Ramesh, Jaipur Pink Panthers head coach Sanjeev Baliyan, Dabang Delhi KC. India's head coach Rambir Singh Khokhar, Gujarat Giants' head coach Ram Mehar Singh, Haryana Steelers' head coach Manpreet Singh and Patna Pirates' head coach Narendra Redhu. The PKL Season 10 Playoffs will be held from 26 February to 01 March 2024 in Hyderabad.
Dabang Delhi KC Head coach Rambir Singh Khokhar is proud of the young members of his team, who have performed well and taken their team to the playoffs. Highlighting the performance of many players, he said, “Our team's defense and attack have been very good. Naveen was in good form and Ashu performed very well after his injury. “Especially after becoming the captain of the team, he has improved.”
In Eliminator 1, Delhi team will face Patna Pirates, whose head coach Narendra Redhu said that mental strength will play an important role in this match.
The coach said, “The most important thing is mental strength. Mind plays an important role in the game of Kabaddi. We need to understand the situation of the rival teams and decide our strategy accordingly. The playoffs can go either way, and we have to be in the right mindset to win these important matches and especially the trophy.”
Haryana Steelers team head coach Manpreet Singh once again said that despite performing well in the league stage, his team will have to be careful in the playoffs.
Manpreet said, “We use players depending on the condition of the team. The team in which players give their hundred percent contribution usually wins the match. In the playoffs, we need to be very careful. Our league stage mistakes won't matter much because it's a different set of matches.”
Gujarat Giants will face Haryana Steelers in Eliminator 2. Before the match, Ram Maher Singh praised team captain Fazal Atrachali.
“We have played against all the teams in this competition,” he said. But according to me, our captain Fazel Atrachali is one of the most experienced players in the competition. He has played 4 Asian Games. Others like Prateek Dahiya have also performed well but to perform, the Raiders will need support from other Raiders as well. “That’s something we’ll work on before the playoffs.”
Meanwhile, Jaipur Pink Panthers head coach Sanjeev Balyan said the team should not think too far ahead and adopt a match-by-match strategy.
“Before thinking about winning the title, we have to focus on the semi-final match first,” he said. We need to give everything. I can't put pressure on my players to win the trophy, because the semi-finals can sometimes be more important than the final. As far as defending the title is concerned, we will definitely try our best.”
Concluding the Panga roundtable, Puneri Paltan head coach BC Ramesh praised young defender Abinesh Nadarajan, saying, “Abinesh is a great player. He is a very good defender. He is looking to master various tackling techniques. Teams will also benefit from this. He needs to work on his performance and he will definitely play for the national team.”
