A biopic will be made on India's first election commissioner

Mumbai: Siddharth Roy Kapur, maker of the critically acclaimed series 'Rocket Boys' on the contributions of Vikram Sarabhai and Dr. Homi Bhabha to India's space and nuclear research soon after Independence, has now announced a biopic on Sukumar Sen, India's first Election Commissioner.

However, it has not been announced yet whether the biopic will be a film or a web series. The cast of this project has not been announced. There is speculation whether Siddharth Roy Kapur is giving a chance to his younger brother and actor Aditya Roy Kapur in this project.

The first Lok Sabha elections in India were held in 1951. Sukumar Sen took on this challenging task as the country's first Chief Election Commissioner. India's general and state assembly elections are conducted to this day based on the criteria established by him.

At that time India had no experience of conducting elections on such a large scale independently and neither did the election system have any trained staff. But Sukumar Sen handled this difficult task very smartly. The biopic will include many exciting things about India's first election polling stations, preparation of voter list, preparation of elections in the hinterlands, voters' response, etc.
