India's star batsmen Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan have got a big relief. The Board of Control for Cricket in India will not release Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer from the central contract. This claim has been made in a report of Times of India. It was earlier claimed that Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan would be dropped from the list of central contract players due to not playing Ranji Trophy. But till now BCCI has not decided to take any strict action against both the players. Recently Shreyas Iyer and Ishaan Kishan have been in controversies for different reasons.
Kishan came into controversy during his South Africa tour
Ishan Kishan was embroiled in controversies during the South Africa tour. Ishan Kishan withdrew from the South Africa tour citing mental health. After this, Kishan did not get a place in Team India for the series against Afghanistan and England. Team India coach Rahul Dravid has made it clear that Ishan Kishan will have to play domestic cricket first to make a comeback. But Kishan did not accept this advice.
There was a dispute between Iyer and Kishan
After this step of Kishan, BCCI has become strict. BCCI has made it clear that players with national contracts cannot leave Ranji Trophy. Despite this, Ishan Kishan maintained distance from Ranji Trophy.
Shreyas Iyer also adopted a similar method. Iyer was dropped from Team India after the second test. But after being out of the team, Iyer made the excuse of injury for not playing Ranji Trophy. The National Cricket Academy has clarified that Iyer is completely fit to play. Due to these reasons Iyer also came into controversies. However, till now both these players have been spared from BCCI action.
