The team also has a fast bowler who lives in a slum. The name of this fast bowler is Juma Miyagi. Indian coach Abhay Sharma, who joined the Ugandan team some time ago, also got upset when he saw Juma Miyagi's slum. He said that hardly anyone has struggled as much as Miyagi has.
Juma Miyagi's debut is no less than a dream
Ugandan fast bowler Juma Miyagi spent his childhood in the slums of Uganda's capital Kampala. About 60 percent of Kampala's population lives in slums. Coming out of the slums, Miyagi's debut for the Ugandan cricket team in the T20 World Cup is no less than a dream. Juma Miyagi grew up in the Naguru slum on the outskirts of Kampala. He played cricket for Uganda's Under-19 team for 2 years. Now he will be seen leading the bowling of the senior team in the T20 World Cup.
Distressed by the state of our population – Indian coach Abhay Sharma
Abhay Sharma, the Indian coach of the Ugandan team, said that Juma Miyagi's slums do not have clean drinking water and sewage system and there are no health facilities. Juma's life has been very difficult so far. When he saw the condition of the people, he also got upset. This is not the first time I have seen slums,” Sharma said. The slum population of Kampala is different from Mumbai's Dharavi. He said that spending time with these players has increased his respect for them.
