Indian cinematographer Santosh Sivan honored at Cannes | Live Updates, Unveiling the Latest India News Trends

The 77th Cannes Film Festival concluded on 25 May. This time, while 4 Indian filmmakers received awards, on the other hand, India's world-renowned cinematographer Santosh Sivan has been awarded the prestigious 'Pierre Engenoux Excellence in Cinematography' award of Cannes 2024. A special promotion award was also given to young Estonian cinematographer Kadri Kupp, who is the owner of 'Engenuex', a company that manufactures cameras and modern camera lenses for shooting films, which is an official partner of the Cannes Film Festival. The Engenuex company was the first company to invent SLR (single lens reflex) cameras and zoom lenses. Not only this, the camera of this company sent the first extremely close photographs of the surface of the moon in NASA's Ranger 7 Moon Mission on 31 July 1964. In 2013, the company launched the Lifetime Achievement and Incentive Award in the field of cinematography in collaboration with the Cannes Film Festival, which continues to this day.

This time the honour has been given to Indian cinematographer Santosh Sivan. On this occasion, Santosh's master class and ceremonial dinner was organized at the Majestic Hotel. Speaking on the occasion, Thierry Frame, Director of the Cannes Film Festival, said, 'India is a great country for cinema and finally, India is witnessing a big presence at the Cannes Film Festival. However, Indian films have been shown in the Cannes Film Festival since its inception.' Frames praised Santosh and said, “He is unique in his art and has taken cinematography to new artistic heights.”
