The voting for the last phase of the seven-phase Lok Sabha election is to be held on Saturday. In such a situation, the condition of election workers in North India, which has become a furnace, has become very pathetic. 25 people have died in the last 24 hours due to heat wave in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, while more than 17 home guard jawans had to be hospitalized. Six home guard jawans including three election workers died while going on election duty on Friday evening in Mirzapur district of Uttar Pradesh. Similarly, in Sonbhadra district also, heat took the lives of three polling workers.
10 election workers died in Bihar. Although doctors have not yet said anything about how they died, it is suspected that they died due to heat stroke.
Apart from this, many states of North India including Jharkhand, Delhi, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh have come under the grip of severe heat. People were in trouble since Friday morning and due to this people thought it better to remain confined in their homes. On Friday, a total of 40 people including election workers died in Uttar Pradesh, 14 in Bihar, five in Odisha and four in Jharkhand. Officials said that apart from this, more than 1,300 people had to be admitted to the hospital due to heat wave.
As polling is being held for 57 seats in eight states on Saturday in the final phase of the Lok Sabha elections, election personnel are forced to perform their duties amid scorching heat conditions that have been lashing north India for some time now. According to the India Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature in the country on Friday was 48.2 degrees in Kanpur and 47.8 degrees in Sirsa in Haryana. Delhi's Mungeshpur recorded a temperature of 52.9 degrees on Thursday, while the temperature in Delhi was recorded at 47 degrees on Friday.
Meanwhile, the scorching heat in many states of the country has taken the lives of more than 270 people so far. So far this season, 160 people have died in Uttar Pradesh, while 65 people have died in Bihar and 41 in Odisha. 11 people also died in Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand. The temperature in some parts of Rajasthan is three degrees Celsius. Despite the decrease in temperature, the series of scorching heat continues
Meanwhile, on Thursday, when the temperature was recorded at 52.9 degrees in Mungeshpur, Delhi, there was a stir in the government system. Union Minister Kiren Rijiju ordered an inquiry. After this, the Meteorological Department clarified that due to a fault in the automatic sensor at the temperature recording center in Mungeshpur, the temperature was recorded as 52.9 degrees, whereas the actual temperature was recorded at 45 degrees. Similarly, on Friday, the maximum temperature in Nagpur was recorded at 56 degrees, again the government system ordered an inquiry. The Meteorological Department said that the actual temperature in Nagpur was also 44 degrees, but due to a fault in the automatic sensor, the temperature was recorded at 56 degrees.
The temperature in Nagpur was 44 degrees and not 56. The sensor malfunctioned due to the unbearable heat
– Monsoon advances over Bay of Bengal, Tripura, Meghalaya, Assam, Sikkim: will also enter Kerala, Karnataka
Mumbai: On one hand, the rainy season has arrived with torrential rains in the sea of Kerala on 30 May 2024. On the other hand, pre-monsoon rains have also created humid conditions in many parts of Maharashtra.
However, on May 30, 2024, worrying news spread that the temperature in Vidarbha, Maharashtra had reached 56.0 °C, even in the capital of India, the temperature reached 52.0 °C on May 29. It is natural for the citizens to be worried.
Mohanlal Sahu, Deputy Director General of Meteorological Department (Nagpur Center) informed Gujarat News with clarity that at present there are four (Ramdas Peth-Punjab Rao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth (PDKV), CICR-Khapri) automatic weather stations in Nagpur. It was told that on May 30, the maximum temperature of 56.0 degrees was recorded at the automatic weather station installed in PDKV area.
During investigation by our technical team, it was found that the electronic sensors in the automatic weather station of PDKV had developed technical faults and blockages due to unbearable heat and humidity. Sometimes it also happens that if the temperature exceeds 38-39 degrees Celsius, the functionality of such sensors may be hampered, as the area is large and open, so the amount of heat and cold increases in the afternoon. These factors have a direct and severe impact on the electronic sensors and there is a possibility of temperature readings being high or low.
Moreover, in our in-depth investigation, the official maximum temperature in PDKV area is not 56.0 °C but 44.0 °C.
