LPG Cylinder: LPG customers have got a big relief just before the last phase of the Lok Sabha elections. The government oil and gas marketing companies have reduced the prices of LPG cylinders for the third time in a row. Thus, the price of LPG cylinder has come down three times since the selection process started.

According to the notification issued by the government oil companies, the price of LPG cylinder has come down by about Rs 70 in different cities of the country from today. However, the benefit of this reduction will be available only on 19 kg commercial LPG cylinders. This time also, no change has been made in the prices of LPG cylinders for domestic use.

After the latest reduction, the price of 19 kg cylinder in Delhi has come down by Rs 69.50 to Rs 1676. Earlier in the month of April, the price had come down by Rs 19 and it came down to Rs 1,745.50. Similarly, commercial LPG cylinder will be available in Kolkata for Rs 1,787 from today. In Mumbai, people will now have to pay Rs 1,629 for this big cylinder, while in Chennai its price will now be Rs 1,840.50.

This reduction in the price of 19 kg commercial cylinder has come at a time when the Lok Sabha elections are in their final phase across the country. The Lok Sabha elections started in the month of April. The last phase of voting is taking place today on June 1. After this, the results of the Lok Sabha elections 2024 will be out on June 4.

Earlier last month also, several cuts were made in the prices of LPG cylinders. From the first of last month i.e. 1st April, the price of 19 kg LPG cylinder was reduced by Rs. 19. From 1st May, the price of commercial LPG cylinder has been reduced by Rs. 19. Before April, the price of commercial cylinders had increased for three consecutive months.

The last change in the price of domestic LPG cylinders was in March, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a reduction of Rs 100 in the price of LPG cylinders on the occasion of Women's Day (March 8, 2024). A day before this, on March 7, the Modi government gave relief to the common people in the matter of LPG cylinders. After this, the cabinet announced a subsidy of Rs 300 to the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana till March 31, 2025. Since then, there has been no change in the price of 14 kg cylinder. That is, there has been no change in the prices of cylinders for domestic use for about 3 months.
