Mumbai: Following the Pune Porsche scam, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation carried out an all-night anti-encroachment drive and demolished several illegal structures of women's bars, pubs, dhabas and Chinese food stalls in the same manner as the municipality had bulldozed pubs and bars.
The demolition team of Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation started the action on Tuesday night and continued till Wednesday morning. It involved demolition of unauthorised portions of six women bar-pubs, several dhabas and Chinese food stalls with bulldozers and JCB machines. It mainly included a weather-shed as well as a temporary structure built next to the bar, where the business was also conducted, all of them were demolished overnight. In the first phase of the drive, encroachments were removed mainly in Belapur and Turbhe areas.
According to the order of Navi Mumbai Municipal Commissioner Dr. Kailash Shinde, the campaign to demolish illegal occupation of hotels, restaurants, pubs and bars will continue.
Three buildings, a dhaba and a scrap building at Ramayan Koparkhairane were demolished by the municipality.
