Billionaire Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Industries and Tata Group have been named in the prestigious Time magazine's list of the world's most influential companies for 2024. Time has called Reliance the juggernaut of India.
This is the second time that Reliance Industries has made it to the Time list. It is worth noting that in 2021, Reliance's Jio platform was given a place in this list.
Another Indian company, Serum Institute, has also been given a place in this list. Time has placed Reliance in the Titans category. Apart from Titans, the list includes four other categories of Leaders, Disruptors, Innovators and Pioneers.
Tata has been placed in the Titans category while Serum has been placed in the Pioneers category. Time has named Reliance as India's most valuable company, saying that under the leadership of Mukesh Ambani, it has expanded in the energy, retail and telecommunications sectors.
An $8.5 billion deal to merge Reliance Media business with Time Disney's Indian business is also mentioned.
Time named the Serum Institute the world's largest vaccine manufacturer, producing 3.5 billion doses of vaccine each year.
Time refers to the Tata Group as having a vast portfolio ranging from steel, software, watches, submarine cables, chemicals, salt, cereals, air conditioners, fashion, hotels and vehicles.
In February, the total market cap of Tata Group reached $365 billion, which is more than the total economy of India's neighboring country Pakistan.
