Saharsa, May 30 (HS). On the occasion of Hindi Journalism Day, IQAC organized a program on media, literature and politics in the MLT College auditorium on Thursday. Addressing the program, chief guest Prof. Shivnarayan said resistance is the root of journalism. Resistance leads to justice.
He said journalism is to fearlessly expose the pain of the individual and the society. If something comes out of the heart with a sad mind, it is always true. He said literature is born from sorrow and compassion. Sad people should get justice. He said earlier journalists were litterateurs. Journalism is not possible without the cultivation of language but today there are neither newspapers nor telegrams but journalists are being made. There is a great lack of infrastructure in the college.
He said that every person should be equipped with political consciousness. Mani Bhushan Verma said that power and media also came into existence along with the formation of society. In Mahabharata, Sanjaya worked in media. Worship of individualism is the biggest vice of media. He said that media people should move ahead in their field of work without any bias and fear. Poet Shahenshah Alam said that journalism should highlight the views of both the ruling party and the opposition and not just the ruling party.
Principal Prof Dr Pawan Kumar said literature gives us values, politics teaches us to be organised while media always shows us the way. Dr Shishir Kumar Mishra said writers are visionaries. Hindi media has been working for almost 200 years. Media should be empowered. Dr Lala Praveen said doing journalism in adverse conditions is the right journalism.
While inaugurating the programme, Dr Siddheshwar Kashyap said that media is the fourth pillar of democracy. Media protects the democratic values of the nation as well as discharges rights and duties. Writers and journalists have played an important role in the freedom movement. To know the truth and write the truth, one has to go to the ground in the field of work.
Dr Jainendra said that media is becoming directionless today. Work should not be done for any party or individual. There should be impartiality in media. Dr Rupesh Kumar Jha said that a stream without any purpose is of no use. Caste and religion have no place in journalism. Only clean journalism can take the society away from distortion.
