Shyam Benegal's film Manthan has achieved tremendous success in its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival 2024 after being restored. The film is being released by Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation Limited (Amul) and Film Heritage Foundation in association with PVR-INOX Limited and Cinepolis India in Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad, Anand, Nadiad, Vadodara, Surat, Rajkot, Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur. Manthan film will be released in 100 cinemas in 50 cities of India including Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata on 1 and 2 June 2024. Manthan is a fictionalized version of the beginning of the extraordinary dairy cooperative movement, the father of the White Revolution, Dr. Verghese Kurien's inspiration has transformed India from a milk-deficient country to the world's largest milk producing country. Manthan is India's first crowd funded film. Which has been made by five lakh dairy farmers. For which each dairy farmer contributed Rs 2. Manthan was shot by renowned cinematographer and director Govind Nihalani, and the music was composed by renowned composer Vanraj Bhatia.
