Arundhati Choudhary reaches pre-quarterfinals of Boxing World Qualifiers

Former national champion Arundhati Choudhary has reached the pre-quarterfinals of the World Olympic Boxing Qualifiers. She registered a comfortable win in the 66kg category while Asian Games bronze medallist Narinder Berwal crashed out of the competition.

Arundhati defeated Puerto Rico's Stephanie Pinero 5-0 in a unanimous decision. In the first round, Arundhati started off well against her opponent, while in the second round she adopted a cautious approach and strengthened her position. The Indian boxer dominated in the third round as well and registered an easy win.

Narender lost 2-3 against Ecuador's Guerlon Gilmar Congo Chala. Narender also gave a tough fight to Virdhi but it was not enough to reach the next round Asian Games 2022 bronze medallist Narender had a slow start in the first round due to which he fell behind and then could not get past Guerlon. He impressed the three judges 3 to 5 with his performance in the second and third rounds, but it was not enough to give him the win.
