Domestic stock markets closed with a decline, Sensex and Nifty fell for the fourth consecutive day

New Delhi, May 29 (HS). Due to profit booking pressure, the domestic stock market closed with a decline for the fourth consecutive trading day on Wednesday. Today's trading also started with weakness. After the market opened, buying pressure was seen for a while, but after some time the sellers created their pressure, due to which the stock market kept falling. However, buyers kept trying to build up buying pressure in between. Despite this, the selling pressure was so high that both the Sensex and Nifty indices continued to trade in the red mark. After the whole day's trading, the Sensex closed with a weakness of 0.89 percent and Nifty with a weakness of 0.80 percent.

Today, during the day's trading, there was mild buying in the stocks of metal, pharmaceutical and media sectors. On the other hand, the stocks of IT, oil and gas and realty sectors remained under the maximum selling pressure. Along with this, the energy, infrastructure, FMCG and banking indices also closed with a decline. Mixed trading was seen in the broader market today. Due to selling pressure, the BSE midcap index closed with a decline of 0.38 percent. On the other hand, the smallcap index ended today's trading with a gain of 0.23 percent.

Due to the weakness in the market today, the wealth of stock market investors has decreased by more than Rs 1.75 lakh crore. The market capitalization of companies listed on BSE decreased to Rs 415.09 lakh crore (provisional) after today's trading. On the previous trading day i.e. Tuesday, their market capitalization was Rs 416.92 lakh crore. In this way, investors have suffered a loss of about Rs 1.83 lakh crore from today's trading.

There was active trading in 3,929 shares on BSE during today's trading. Of these, 1,693 shares closed with a gain while 2,127 shares showed a decline, whereas 109 shares closed without any fluctuation. There was active trading in 2,254 shares on NSE today. Of these, 955 shares closed in the green zone after making profits, while 1,299 shares closed in the red zone after incurring losses. Similarly, out of the 30 shares included in Sensex, 6 shares closed with a gain and 24 shares closed with a decline. Out of the shares included in Nifty, 13 shares closed in the green zone and 37 shares closed in the red zone.

The BSE Sensex today opened at 74,826.94 points, down 343.51 points. With the support of buying in the early trade, the index managed to recover more than 150 points from the opening level and reach the level of 74,986.22 points. After this, all-round selling started in the market. Due to continuous selling, the index fell 715.90 points to reach 74,454.55 points. After the whole day's buying and selling, the Sensex closed at 74,502.90 points with a weakness of 667.55 points.

Like the Sensex, NSE's Nifty also started trading today with a fall of 125.40 points at 22,762.75 points. Due to buying support in the initial trade, the index jumped to 22,825.50 points. After this, the bears put their pressure in the market, due to which the index kept falling continuously. Due to continuous selling, the index fell to 22,685.45 points with a weakness of 202.70 points. After the whole day's trading, the Nifty ended today's trading at 22,704.70 points, falling 183.45 points.

After the day's trading, among the big stocks of the stock market, Hindalco Industries gained 3.52 percent, Power Grid Corporation 1.57 percent, Divi's Laboratories 1.27 percent, Nestle 1 percent and Sun Pharmaceuticals 0.96 percent and were included in the list of top 5 gainers of the day. HDFC Life 2.87 percent, SBI Life Insurance 2.62 percent, ICICI Bank 2.21 percent, Tata Consumer Products 2.21 percent and Tech Mahindra 2.18 percent and were included in the list of top 5 losers of the day.
